Gastroscopy / Colonoscopy

Endoscopic examinations are modern and reliable diagnostic methods for the detection of gastrointestinal diseases. The procedure is performed using a thin, flexible endoscopic instrument.

Who Is It Recommended For?

Endoscopic examinations—particularly colonoscopy—are recommended as a screening procedure for individuals over the age of 50 even in the absence of symptoms, as many gastrointestinal conditions may remain asymptomatic in their early stages. These examinations play a crucial role in the timely detection of malignant and other gastrointestinal diseases.

Endoscopy is also recommended in cases of persistent or recurrent gastrointestinal symptoms, such as abdominal pain, gastroesophageal reflux, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation. The examination is indicated if gastrointestinal bleeding is suspected, including the presence of bloody or black stools, or in cases of anemia. Endoscopic evaluation is likewise advised in the presence of unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite.

It is further recommended for individuals with a family history of gastrointestinal malignancies. Endoscopic examination may also be necessary following a positive screening result, such as a fecal occult blood test.

Procedure and Scheduling

Prior appointment scheduling is required. Following online payment, one of our staff members will contact you within one business day to provide detailed information regarding the necessary preparations and to schedule the examination. The endoscopic procedure is performed by a board-certified gastroenterologist using state-of-the-art equipment in a safe clinical environment. During the examination, tissue biopsy and, if indicated, polypectomy (removal of polyps) may also be performed.

.

Why Choose Sedation?

Performing endoscopic examinations under sedation significantly enhances patient comfort. Under sedation, the procedure is completely painless, unpleasant sensations are minimized, and patients generally have no recollection of the examination.

A calm and controlled environment allows the physician to conduct a more thorough and precise examination and to safely perform biopsies or polyp removal when necessary. Sedated procedures are typically quicker and less physically and emotionally demanding, particularly for anxious or sensitive patients.

Sedation is administered under specialist supervision in strictly controlled conditions.

How to Prepare for the Examination

Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (Gastroscopy) – Preparation

Patients must refrain from eating for at least 6 hours prior to the examination and from drinking for at least 2 hours beforehand. An empty stomach is essential to ensure accurate visualization.

Colonoscopy – Preparation

Colonoscopy requires special bowel preparation, including dietary restrictions and the use of a prescribed laxative solution. Adequate bowel cleansing is essential for accurate and reliable results. Detailed written instructions regarding the preparation process are provided to each patient in advance by our coordinator.
